For aromatherapists, herbalists, soapmakers, skincare formulators, perfumers, and bodyworkers.
You pour the oil blends, stir the skincare, dry the herbs, cut the soap, blend the perfume, and pour the candles. You know every batch by heart. What you may not have yet is the place where a stranger can see all of that and feel what it is like to buy from you. The free First Look preview shows you that place, built from your own answers.
I am Katrin. I have worked in tech for over 20 years, and I hold diplomas in natural skincare and aromatherapy, so I know a bench full of botanicals as well as I know a website. Dozens of makers have asked for a preview so far. Two thirds of them make oil blends, half make skincare, and about 4 in 10 make herbal remedies or soap. Many also teach workshops and offer consultations, and some make perfume and candles.
How First Look works
It starts with a look, not a form.
You open firstlook.aigrimm.com and see a row of color boards, like polaroids on a studio table. Nothing is picked for you. You tap the one that feels like your work, or you let me choose one for you. There are 20 in all, from aloe leaves on cream linen to clay and stone with dark glass bottles. That is the first decision, and you make it with your eyes.
Then ten quick taps, about two minutes.
You choose lettering that sounds like your label, an airy gallery or a full market table, photographs or drawings or a mix, and whether your corners are soft, square, or arched like an apothecary window. If you like drawings, there are ten art styles, from watercolor to linocut. You tell me what you make and what you would love a visitor to do, whether that is buying, booking, or joining a workshop. You add three words that sound like you, and your email. There is nothing to upload and nothing to write.
Then a real person looks at it.
I do not press a button and walk away. Your answers are read. If you have a website or shop, I look at it. If your site has a logo, that logo goes on your preview. If you sent a photo of your product, it leads. Then the pictures are made for what you actually make, and I read your preview myself before it goes out. Most previews are ready within a few hours.
What arrives in your inbox
An email with your business name in the subject line: Your First Look for [your business] is ready. Open it and you see the top of your own homepage, in your colors and your lettering, with pictures of your products. You can switch between Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile and watch it fit each screen.
The top of the page leads with one thing, the thing you chose to lead with. You may make six things, but a visitor’s first glance needs one, and the rest sits one tap away. Right under your name is one sentence that tells a stranger why to stay. Two short notes beneath the page explain why the top says what it says, so nothing is a mystery. You also get two pages of your brand board, the cover and your colors, plus a first social post written for you that you can save and use today. It is all free, and nothing asks you to commit.
What makers are choosing
When makers had a choice to make, this is what they chose over what. It says a lot about how this craft wants to look.
Letting me choose over choosing alone. 51% tapped “pick for me” and 40% tapped a board themselves. Only 9% brought their own colors. More than 8 in 10 of the makers who let me choose landed on Aloe Linen, soft aloe greens on cream linen with herbs and green soap, or Coastal Clay, warm stone neutrals with dark glass dropper bottles and driftwood. Those are the two looks we suggest first for oil blends, skincare, and soap.
Bold over soft, when they picked for themselves. Among the makers who tapped a board, more than half chose a “pop” look with a stronger contrast color over a gentle blend. Eucalyptus Mist and Sage & Terracotta led the field, and every other board was picked less often.
Photographs over drawings. 71% chose photographs, 23% chose a mix, and 6% chose drawings alone. When drawings made it in, vintage botanical beat the other styles, with about two thirds of the makers who chose a style.
A row of products over everything else at the top. 60% chose a row of products. A split picture and words took 20%, a centered layout 11%, and the rest was spread thin.
Airy over full. 86% wanted the quiet gallery feel. 14% wanted the full market table.
Soft over square. 71% chose soft, rounded corners, 20% chose apothecary arches, and 9% chose clean square corners.
A label look over a modern one. Apothecary label lettering took 31%, clean modern 26%, and classic serif 17%. The first two are close.
Buy over book. 77% made “buy online” the big button. 14% put booking a session first, and the rest chose a workshop, a course, or their story.
And the words they chose for their work: calm (20%), healing and warm (17% each), and honest (14%).
How it feels
I built this to show makers what is possible. What I see is that it is rarely a design moment. It is a recognition moment. You see your own name in the header of a real homepage, in colors you chose, and the idea you have carried around for months turns into something you can look at. About 6 in 10 makers have already opened theirs.
What you leave with
A page with your name on it, a first post you can use today, and a clear picture of what your homepage could be. You do not have to do anything with it. If it is not for you, simply ignore it. If it feels right, reply to the email and tell me what you would change, or just “this feels right.” Both count.
If you have been meaning to start, this is the smallest step I know. It is free, takes two minutes, and ends with a page that is yours.
